keys with no chests?
I understand that ANET wanted to stop chest running abuse. Apparently too many ppl were getting the wisdom & treasure hunter titles. Or mayB ANET was concerned about a shakey the economy from inflated gold item prices. Or mayB ANET was trying to reduce scammin... dunno...
But the question has been on my mind for a long time now - what is the point of getting a key drop in NM UW, FOW, or TOMBS if there are virtually no chests? For example, I went UW trappin with 2 friends this weekend & got 3 phantom key drops before finishing 2nd quest (my allies each got ecto drops). & Of course after doin 5 quests in UW, we came across no chests!!!! at least the phantom keys sell for 625 G to the merchants I guess... but whats the point? I mean really... |

There's the same amount of chests there as on every normal map, they're just WAY more spread out, =/ Not much more I can say, I also think it's useless.

When I do Smite-runs with my Warrior there is a chest in about 1 of 5-7 runs and I'm always happy if there's one to use my Phantom Keys
Seems like there are only very few Phantom Chests, compared to other places, but I only see a very small part of UW everytime I do the runs, so ..... it might only seem like that. Quote:
Well at least I get a chest every few runs, so that's still okay. Last edited by take_me; May 14, 2008 at 09:43 PM // 21:43.. |

Anet only did this in FOW and UW to stop chest running. Now you have to complete quests to spawn more chests

After you complete all the quests you can go back and look for chests, I bet you find lots!! They will be spread out as those areas are large. |

Not only was it becoming a strain on the ingame economy, it was also producing far too many "perfect" items lowering their prices.
On top of this it was a much abused way of making ingame money to sell for RL cash. Many of those chests were far too easy to get to. There was one in DoA when it first opened that could be run in about 30-40 sec. I must have made 500K off that one before they nerfed it - and I wasn't even among the first to discover it. |
